The Pink Ribbon Program

Core Pilates owner and instructor Kim McDonough is a Certified Post-Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Pink Ribbon Program, Post-Operative Workout Enchancing Recovery.

The program helps breast cancer survivors to meet the following goals:

Helps regain strength and mobility in affected shoulder and arm
Retrains musculature of trunk for postural improvement
Improves self-confidence
Reduces feelings of depression
Enhances energy levels
Decreases stress and tension
Enhances physical and mental well-being

Recent studies show a connection between moderate physical exercise and higher quality of life for breast cancer survivors. Often, survivors are sent home from the hospital with no formal program for rehabilitation. The Pink Ribbon Program is designed specifically to help women recover physically, mentally, and spiritually from the surgery, which ties in to the mission of Core Pilates to help create healthier mind, body, and soul.

We know the last thing you feel like doing is exercising, but you'll be so glad you did. Exercise does heal, and exercising under the guidance of Kim, a certified Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, ensures that the exercises are right for you and your condition.

A yoga class is a practice and yoga practice is forever ongoing. Every practice is a new learning experience. We practice yoga to relieve tension and stress, to create a stillness and balance within ourselves, and for some,to connect with our own Divine Spirit.
Yoga does not judge or discriminate. Core Pilates & Yoga is committed to teaching yoga to all people of all body types, ages and fitness levels. We respect you as an individual and give hands-on attention to all students, so you can be confident you are practicing safely and intelligently.

Kim Brown started practicing yoga in 1999 and has been a Yoga Alliance registered teacher since 2006.

It is only when the correct practice is followed for a long time, without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness, that it can succeed. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras 1-14
